TRS is practising Nizam’s politics in the state: P Muralidhar Rao

Rao said, there are martyrs in every village in Telangana state who fought against the misrule of Nizams.

Hyderabad: BJP general secretary and Karnataka in-charge P. Muralidhar Rao said on Monday that it was not possible for the JD(S)-Congress coalition government to survive in Karnataka.

He alleged that with the support of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, leaders were indulging in horse-trading and trying to threaten rebel MLAs who had resigned.

“The BJP will not allow this to continue. We appeal to the Governor to take a decision soon to protect democracy,” Mr Rao said while speaking to mediapersons here.

To a question on the ruling coalition accusing the BJP of horse-trading, he said, “It is merely an allegation and there is no logic in blaming the BJP. When the rebel MLAs approached the Supreme Court, it became open. They have got protection from the Supreme Court and we have no role to play.”

He said the Supreme Court had recognised the right of the dissidents. “If they want to boycott the House and not to participate in the confidence vote, the Supreme Court has accepted their appeal,” the BJP general secretary said.

He said that if the trust vote was not held on Monday, it would be a clear violation. “The Speaker has exhausted the options. In such a situation, saving democracy becomes paramount,” he said.

Talking about the BJP’s campaign in Telangana state, Mr Rao said, “Hindutva is our ideological base. It is not an electoral strategy. Hindutva is our world view. Telangana has a history of people who fought the Nizam’s despotic rule. There are martyrs in every village in Telangana state who fought against the misrule of Nizams.”

“The TRS is trying to play the politics that was practiced by the Nizam. Not only that, KCR is failing on many fronts. The BJP has to be the real Opposition, a functioning Opposition. The Congress was a failed opposition in 2014 and it is so even now. The people will see the BJP’s work and soon we will become the number one choice in Telangana state,” Mr Rao said.
