Congress conducts Vanta-Varpu in protest against BRS non-fulfilling of poll promises

WARANGAL: A call for the start of another movement for achieving the democratic rights of the people and self-respect of the Telangana state has been made by the Congress party at a "protest" meeting held in front of the Congress Bhavan in Hanamkonda on Thursday.

DCC president Naini Rajendar alleged that the BRS government was wasting public money in the name of the decennial celebrations and attempting to boost the image of the ruling party. It failed to fulfil the poll promises that chief minister KCR had made to the people, he said.

Congress leaders along with the activists who participated in the separate Telangana movement and students of the Kakatiya University took part in the Dashabdi Dagha call given by the TPCC and held the Vanta-Varpu programme. They alleged that the BRS government was deceiving the people with hollow promises.’

Rajendar Reddy alleged that every employee of the government from village to district and state level is involved in giving publicity to the BRS in the name of Dashabdi Utsavalu.

The BRS government utterly failed in fulfilling the poll promises, he said.

“Chief Minister KCR has been deceiving the people of Telangana for the past nine years. After formation of the Telangana state, nothing good has happened to the weaker sections.”

He said, “BRS means Bhoodandhala Rashtra Samiti. Its leaders are not leaving any vacant land and are grabbing them. They are behaving indecently with women and looting the public money in the name of commissions.”

Prof Venkatanarayana said that before the formation of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party under the leadership of Prof Jayashankar, a separate platform was established in the name of Telangana Ikya Vedika and it took up several activities as part of the separate Telangana movement.

“There is no supply of water, no recruitment of jobs and sanctioningof funds for which the Telangana state was achieved. But the BRS government brought the feudalistic style of governance back to the state. In nine years of ruling, KCR looted the public wealth created in the past 90 years in Telangana,” he alleged.

Congress leaders B. Shoba Rani, E. Venkatram Reddy, Ashok Rao, Srinivas Rao, Rehamunnisa Begum, advocate Sai Narendar, Vijay Khanna, Devoju Naik, Karthik and Ramesh were present.
