The ten-day budget session will commence on July 2 and continue till July 12.

Bengaluru: Will it be freebies and freebies in the state budget with the 2019 parliament poll approaching or will Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy who handles the finance portfolio, keep his spending under limits to ensure he has enough funds for the much touted farm loan waiver scheme?

Hectic parleys are already on in different government departments on the shape of Mr Kumaraswamy's maiden budget which he will present on July 5.after Governor Vajubhai Vala addresses the joint session of the state legislature on July 2. With the Congress too exerting pressure for inclusion of the programmes outlined in its poll manifesto in the budget, the CM will have to play a balancing game to ensure he keeps all sections in his party and in the coalition partner happy.

The ten-day budget session will commence on July 2 and continue till July 12, said Law and Parliamentary Minister Krishna Byre Gowda. Since the term of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council has ended following the retirement of incumbent Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy, the Cabinet has decided to appoint senior member of the JD(S) Basavaraj Horatti as pro-tem Chairman of the Council. The Cabinet also approved continuation of Deputy Chairman, Marithibbegowda in his post.

Elections will be held to both posts once the Council proceedings commence during the budget session, Mr. Krishna Byre Gowda said.
