TD leaders say they would grab power in next polls

KAKINADA: Telugu Desam leaders have expressed confidence that the party would seize power in the 2024 assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. “Our government would follow the ideals of Telugu Desam founder NT Rama Rao,” they have said.

The claim was made at the Telugu Desam Mini Mahanadu here on Monday evening, which was presided over by the party’s Kakinada district president Jyothula Naveen.

TD leaders said large numbers of people are thronging the public meetings of party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the Yuvagalam Padayatra of Nara Lokesh. They lashed out at chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and his government.

TD politburo member and former finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said Jagan Reddy is answerable and accountable to the people of the state vis-à-vis the Rs 2.75 lakh crores budget of the state. The CM should reveal where the budget amounts have been spent, he said.

He accused Jagan Reddy of amassing wealth while his father the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the chief minister and even now when he himself is the chief minister. Former minister Devineni Umamaheswara said Jagan has introduced a Police Raj in the state.

Peddapuram MLA Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said the YSRC leaders were harassing the opposition leaders. Former minister Bandaru Satyanarayana said, “If the relatives of Jagan face even small health problems, they would go to Hyderabad or Bengaluru. But why is it that the MP Avinash Reddy’s mother is admitted in Kurnool hospital,” he asked.

The leaders garlanded the photos of NTR and Varupala Raja photos and paid rich tributes to them.

Former Minister Chikkala Ramachandra, former MLAs Jyothula Nehru, SVSN Varma, Vanamadi Venkateswara, Pilli Ananthalakshmi, former mayor S Pavani were present.
