CPM ready for all-party meet: Sitaram Yechury

The party should show the responsibility of a party that heads the Central government.

Thiruvananthapuram: In the aftermath of the attack on AKG Bhavan, their headquarters in Delhi, the CPM has blamed BJP and RSS for violence in Kerala.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said the party was not averse to the idea of an all-party meeting to discuss the violence.

Chief Minister-designate Pinarayi Vijayan in a Facebook post took exception to Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s statement that CPM men will be confronted on the streets. The statements made by BJP national leaders should not be for creating tension among the people, he said. The party should show the responsibility of a party that heads the Central government.

CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in a press conference said BJP was expecting 30 percent votes in the elections to become a force to reckon with. However, they had to be content with just one seat disappointing the party cadres who turned violent in 41 places attacking 25 houses of CPM workers.

On May 19 when the results were declared, victory procession in the constituency of the chief minister-designate was attacked by the BJP-RSS workers resulting in the death of C.V. Raveendran, 53. In Kanhangad, the victory procession E. Chandrasekharan was attacked and he got his hand fractured, Mr Balakrishnan said.
