Chennai: BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has demanded that the State government ban MDMK chief Vaiko’s campaign against Sterlite as he is “inciting violence”. He sought appropriate action on MDMK members for the “savage attack” on her party members in Udangudi and also on former State Minister Anita Radhakrishnan for “inciting violence.”

Alleging that Mr. Vaiko has undertaken a “false campaign” against Sterlite’s copper smelter plant in Tuticorin district in the State, Dr. Tamilisai claimed that the MDMK chief “instigated” his cadres to attack the BJP members who had gathered at Udangudi on Saturday to show black flags against Vaiko for his derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“He incited violence against our party members and watched the MDMK cadres brutally attack the BJP members with iron rods and stones. Over ten BJP members were injured in the incident,” she said.

She alleged that former State Minister Anita Radhakrishnan who came that way, “saw the BJP members in a marriage hall and remarked ‘torch the mandapam with the BJP members’.” “After obtaining what he wanted from the Sterlite management, Vaiko has now launched the campaign against the plant, only as a cover-up. His campaign against Sterlite is bogus and he has no locus standi to criticise Mr. Modi who is striving hard for development of the nation,” Dr. Tamilisai alleged.
