Congress: Narsa Reddy is a role model for all

Mr Jaipal Reddy said that Mr Narsa Reddy was a honest politician and personality and his autobiography reflected this fact.

Hyderabad: Present-day politics has deteriorated to such an extent that moral values, honesty and integrity have become almost extinct. Besides money is dictating terms in elections, said Congress leaders on Saturday.

They said that this was where the next-generation politicians should learn from life of freedom fighter and former politician P. Narsa Reddy.

The 87-year old’s autobiography “My Life” was released by former Chief Minister K. Rosaiah at a programme at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally on Saturday.

Past and present leaders of the Congress, including S. Jaipal Reddy, K. Jana Reddy, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, K. Suresh Reddy, Palvai Govardhan Reddy were among those present.

Recalling his over four-decade-long association with Mr Narsa Reddy, Mr Rosaiah said that he was noted for drafting policies of the government at that time. Mr Jaipal Reddy said that Mr Narsa Reddy was a honest politician and personality and his autobiography reflected this fact.

Mr Govardhan Reddy gave a brief description about the book and the author.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy felt that Mr Narsa Reddy’s autobiography will be a source of great learning for everyone, including politicians.

Mr Narsa Reddy said that he moved away from politics due to increased influence of money. He said that anyone who wished to enter politics now had to empty his pockets and finances, unlike the past when money was not at all a factor.

Mr Narsa Reddy, who was born in 1930 in Nirmal (Adilabad district) was a former freedom fighter and also worked as irrigation and revenue minister in the combined state. He started as a sarpanch and and later became an MLA and then an MP.
