29 nominations filed on first day in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: As many as seven candidates, including prominent persons like BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, have filed their nomination papers on the first day of accepting nomination papers in Thiruananthapuram on Friday. Governor P Sathasivam issued the notification for the elections for the 14th state assembly on Friday. Subsequently chief electoral officer E K Majhi also issued the notification of the Election Commission. Most of the candidates submitted nominations after noon. It was ‘Rahukalam’ from 10.30 to noon, which is considered to be inauspicious for new ventures.
The maximum number of nominations were received in Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam, seven each. Apart from Kummanan Rajasekharan, who is contesting from Vattiyoorkavu, Congress leader K Muraleedharan (Vattiyoorkavu), Speaker N Sakthan (Kattakada), CPM’s Kadakampally Surendran (Kazhakoottam) and BJP former state secretary V Muraleedharan (Kazhakoottam) also filed nominations in Thiruvananthapuram district.
