Mohan Babu had planned a day-long protest but before he could step out the local police prevented the stir.

TIRUPATI: Tollywood actor and Sree Vidyaniketan Educational Institutions chief Manchu Mohan Babu led a rally along with hundreds of students in front of the college campus at Rangampeta near Tirupati to protest against the government not reimbursing the fee.

Mohan Babu has been speaking against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for a while now, his chief grouse being that the TD government had not reimbursed students’ fee. The government arrears to Vidyaniketan Institutions stands at Rs 19 crore.

Mohan Babu had planned a day-long protest but before he could step out the local police prevented the stir.

He immediately posted Twitter: “Wanted to take a peaceful rally today in Tirupati, protesting against the non-payment of the fee reimbursement of the students by the Government. The police have arrived at our home in Tirupati and it looks like they are not going to allow the rally (sic).”

“Why is the Government not paying the students' fee? And the rally is for the students. I don’t gain anything from it. Rs 19 crore have been pending and for what? Why isn’t the Government honouring their commitment (sic)?”
