DMK MLAs create ruckus in Tamil Nadu Assembly
Chennai: The TN Assembly witnessed noisy scenes when the opposition DMK attempted to corner the ruling AIADMK on a range of issues. But, the Treasury Benches countered with strong remarks.
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami who lead his Cabinet colleagues in taking on the DMK said the State prospered under the rule of Amma.
“Development has been the major plank on which the government is working. In fact, when the Union Shipping Minister (Nitin Gadkari) reviewed the pace of implementing the schemes, he announced Rs 1 lakh crore projects for Tamil Nadu.
Also, the Centre agreed to consider the establishment of a green field corridor from Salem to Chennai,” Mr. Palaniswami said.
When Deputy leader of the Opposition DMK Duraimuraugan remarked that the Union Commerce and Industries Ministry’s report indicated that TN is industrially backward, Industries Minister M. C. Sampath replied that RBI statistics showed that the State has moved to the four position in terms of development.
To this, Duraimurugan claimed that no major infrastructure projects had taken off. Intervening, Mr. Palaniswami said Tamil Nadu is the only state in the country that had taken up road widening work on a massive scale.
