Siddaramaiah says no, Congress seniors meet cancelled

The source said that because of Mr Siddaramaiah's stand, the party had to postpone the meeting indefinitely.

Bengaluru: The much-hyped Congress party's meeting of senior leaders, convened by the Karanataka Pradesh Congress Committee, was apparently red flagged by none other than Chief Minister Siddaramaiah late on Tuesday night.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior party leader observed that when the KPCC sent its agenda for Mr Siddarmaiah's approval on Tuesday evening, he held a closed door meeting with his close friends and apparently decided to call it off. “His justification was when the party was convening a party co-ordination meeting, why should any other meeting be held prior to that? He felt that the party should focus on organising the Satyamev Jayate," the source said.

The KPCC leaders, however, tried hard to convince Mr Siddaramaiah that it would be ideal to convene a meeting of party senior leaders to assuage their feelings. The source said, “Mr Siddarmaiah took it lightly and said why should the three senior leaders, B. Janardhan Poojary, C.K. Jaffer Sharieff and A.H. Vishwanath, be troubled, and said, ‘Let them do what they want to do. Talking to them will not be much of much help’.”
