No future for AIADMK or DMK in Tamil Nadu, says BJP's Ganesan

Knowing fully well about his poll prospects, he had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha election from South Chennai.

Chennai: The rancorous scenes witnessed in the State Assembly on Saturday, which have “exposed” the Dravidian majors, show that both the AIADMK and DMK have no future in Tamil Nadu, BJP senior and MP L. Ganesan claimed.

“First the people understood the DMK and ensured the victory of the AIADMK. Now, they understood both. So, I think it is the beginning of the end of the Dravidian domination in Tamil Nadu and the beginning of revival of nationalist rule in the State. I feel there is no future for the Dravidian parties hereafter,” he said. Speaking to this correspondent on the high drama witnessed during the vote of confidence in the Assembly on Feb. 18 and the DMK’s protest, he said people rejected the DMK during the Assembly elections and in future they would spurn the AIADMK too.

“People thought the AIADMK is capable of stopping the DMK from coming to power and voted it to power. But post Jayalalithaa, people will definitely rethink and vote for the BJP because there is no alternative. People, especially the middle class, lower middle class and urban oriented sections have realised this,” he added.

Knowing fully well about his poll prospects, he had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha election from South Chennai and was astonished to find that he had secured 2.58 lakh votes, which was five times more than what he obtained during his previous contest.

“This shows people want the BJP. Fortunately we have got a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi. It is not simply words or deeds that make the people support the party,” he said.
