TD going ahead with Yuva Galam launch on January 27

Anantapur: Despite not yet receiving clearance from DGP office for the 4,000-km-long Yuva Galam padayatra being launched by Telugu Desam national general secretary Nara Lokesh for 400 days, TD cadres are busy making all arrangements for starting the yatra from Kuppam in Chittoor district on the scheduled day of January 27.

Party sources said they have already submitted a representation to Chittoor SP office seeking permission for a convoy of 22 vehicles that will follow Lokesh’s padayatra. TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu and film star and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna will be taking part in the first day’s padayatra from Kuppam.

Balakrishna will be reaching Kuppam from Hindupur on January 26.

TD leader Bonda Umamaheswar Rao expressed anger over clarification sought by DGP office about the number of people and vehicles in the yatra. “How can we say anything about the number of people when the entire state is disgusted with the dismal rule of Jagan,” he countered.

Umamaheswar Rao underlined that the DGP should know that every leader has a right to meet people through padayatras, as it has been provided for in the Indian Constitution.

Another senior TD leader Varla Ramaiah made it clear that the yatra will not stop even if the police do not give permission. “We will provide details of the padayatra to the respective police station when the yatra is passing through that area,” he said.

It is stated party cadres from all 175 assembly segments will arrive in Kuppam to take part in the yatra on Day 1. Arrangements are being made to accommodate at least 50,000 people at the starting point in Kuppam.
