Thiruvananthapuram: CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy will flag off the south zone LDF jatha led by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan here on February 14.
CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury will flag off the northern jatha led by CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran at Majeshwaram on February 16. Both the jathas will culminate at a public meeting to be held in Thrissur on March 2. The jathas are being taken out with the slogan "throw out Modi Government".
During the jathas the Left leadership will expose the failures of the Modi government. LDF convenor A Vijayaragha-van said the country’s debts had doubled, fuel prices were shooting up by the day, agriculture and industry sectors have collapsed, people were in extreme distress due to poverty and unemployment.
He said the BJP was polarising the society on communal lines to divert peopple’s attention from the five year misrule of Modi Government. The BJP government has to be thrown out of power at the very first opportunity to save the nation, he added.
Vijayaraghavan said in order to achieve the goal, the representation of Left needs to be increased in Parliament.
The left leadership accu-sed the Centre of derailing LDF Government’s development and welfare measures. The Sangh Parivar has unleashed propaganda in the name of belief to mislead people and create unrest in society.
With the people rejecting Sabarimala agitation of the UDF and the BJP, the two political formations were now resorting to vilification campaign against the government, it added.
The Left leaders claim that the two jathas will expose political immorality of the UDF and BJP .
Meanwhile, the LDF has intensified mass contact programme to counter the Sangh Privar propaganda on Sabarimala. Apart from jathas covering all important centres in each Assembly segment, the ruling front workers are conducting house to house visits to explain the government stand.
The Left leaders say the RSS is trying to create an Ayodhya Model agitation in the state. Anti social elements and known criminals are part of the anti government campaign who are unleashing violence, they alleged.
The LDF believes that the people of the state will see through BJP’s devious plan.
