A fight had reportedly broken out between Ganesh and Anand Singh in the early hours of Sunday at the resort.

Bengaluru: Following the filing of an FIR against Kampli Congress MLA J.N. Ganesh for allegedly assaulting party colleague and Hosapete MLA Anand Singh, the police are searching for Mr Ganesh who is reportedly absconding to evade arrest.

The MLA is absconding after the Congress let its legislators leave Eagleton Resort in the outskirts of Bengaluru where they were lodged to save them from poaching attempts by the Opposition BJP.

A fight had reportedly broken out between Ganesh and Anand Singh in the early hours of Sunday at the resort and the former allegedly hit the latter with a liquor bottle following which Singh was admitted to a hospital.

Later, Singh alleged in a complaint to the police that Ganesh not only assaulted him but also threatened to kill him.

The Bidadi police had on Monday booked Ganesh under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons), 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult to breach peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Following the, incident, a red-faced Congress had suspended Ganesh. The MLA was on the radar of the BJP as one of those 'vulnerable' to poaching.
