JD(S) ready for alliance with Left parties in Karnataka
Mangaluru: The Janata Dal (S) is prepared to have an alliance with the Left parties in Karnataka for the coming Assembly polls, party supremo, H.D. Deve Gowda, revealed here on Monday.
“We have ties with the Left parties in Kerala as the JD(S) is part of the Left Democratic Front there. We want to continue our ties with the Left parties here too and have proposed an alliance with them for the coming elections. They will take a decision soon,” he told reporters here.
Mr Gowda, however, ruled out having any alliance with the SDPI although the party did tie up with it in the 2014 elections. “There is no such proposal now,” he clarified.
Asked if the JD(S) would opt for an alliance with the Congress if need be, he said, “I have burnt my fingers supporting the Congress.” He also revealed that the party would finalise its candidates' list by the end of February.
