CPM broke promises, alleges CPI

The party which heads the Front is trying to implement decisions which are not part of LDF election manifesto, says CPI's political report.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI has mounted attack on big brother CPM for deviating from the promises made in the election manifesto. The criticism of CPM figured in the political report presented at the CPI district conference here on Monday. The report also criticised CPM move to bring in tainted leaders like K M Mani into the LDF fold. Instead of strengthening the Left parties and LDF , the CPM was showing more interest in getting parties which have nothing to do with Left ideology, it pointed out.

The CPI report charged the CPM with taking unilateral decisions against the coalition dharma. The party which heads the Front is unfortunately trying to implement decisions which are not part of LDF election manifesto. The CPI claimed that the opposition raised by the part to various policies and programmes of the CPM had received recognition of the general public which voted LDF into power.

The party believes that its stand on many issues like encroachments in Munnar, corruption cases, appointment of advisors to the chief minister, Thomas Chandy encroachment, bringing cabinet decision within the purview of right to information, Maoist encounter killings and violation of human rights by police had been appreciated by the people. The report pointed out that LDF cannot accommodate parties like the Kerala Congress. The party has strongly opposed the CPM move to induct K.M. Mani into LDF. The LDF which has adopted zero tolerance policy against corruption can never take leaders like Mani.

Moreover, Mani's son Jose K Mani MP was also found guilty in the Solar Commission Report. The CPI reminded that during the Assembly election campaign, the LDF had exposed the corrupt activities of Mani and even campaigned that Mani had installed a money counting machine in his house. Earlier, national secretary Pannyan Raveend-ran said those planning to join the LDF with the intention of making money have no place in the ruling front. The CPI leadership pointed out that the stand taken by the party in Thomas Chandy case had received support from the people.
