No religion teaches hatred for others: KCR

\'The attacks on minorities is only a temporary phase. They will not last long. Such things do come and go,\' he said

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday asked what fundamentalists would achieve by attacking followers of other religions and their places of worship.

"Some foolish Muslim kings demolished temples which caused pain to Hindus. A few other kings demolished places of worship of other religions. What did they achieve with this,” Rao said, while speaking at the official Christmas celebrations of the state government at LB Stadium here on Tuesday.

“No religion teaches hatred for other religions or to attack people of other religions. All religions teach and believe in humanity, love and peace," the Chief Minister said.

Responding to a speaker earlier at the meeting who said that incidents of attacks on minorities were being witnessed in the country, Chief Minister Rao said, "The attacks on minorities is only a temporary phase. They will not last long. Such things do come and go. But the reality lives, the humanity lives. That is what is permanent."

"There is nothing wrong in any religion. No religion teaches anyone to do wrong things. The problem crops up when fundamentalists misinterpret religion," he added.

Stating that the TRS government treated and respected all religions equally, Rao said no one requested him to celebrate Christmas, Id-ul-Fitr, Bathukamma and Bonalu officially on behalf of state government.

"I took up the initiative on my own to celebrate the major festivals of all religions officially to promote communal harmony and set a good precedent for all others in the country," Rao added.
