Hyderabad: Former chief minister of Karnataka and senior BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa called upon the people of Telangana not to fall into the trap of false promises that has been laid by the Congress as the party had failed to implement its promises in his home state.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Yeddyurappa said that the Telangana Congress is trying to replicate the Karnataka model here even though it has let down people in the neighbouring state.
“The party deceived voters after winning elections in Karnataka. It announced five guarantees there while here it has guaranteed six. Do not get carried away by empty promises. Unemployment allowance of '3,000 for graduates and '2,500 to diploma holders have not been launched so far,” he said, adding that the Gruaha Lakshmi scheme under which '2,000 are to be given to women in BPL families is not reaching all. Stating that 1.16 crore beneficiaries were registered under this scheme, he added that it requires '2300 crore per month. On complaints from eligible applicants, he said that the government is blaming procedural and technical issues.
Meanwhile, Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said that for the first time in 75 years, the trail-blazing BJP has decided to make a BC as the Chief Minister of Telangana. The BJP, which has a large number of BC MLAs, MLCs, MPs and 27 Union ministers, has always stood for social justice, Reddy said.
“We made Abdul Kalam, Ramnath Kovind and Draupadi Murmu as the country’s President," he said.
Congress party is synonymous with corruption. Around '10 lakh crore of public money was looted by way of scams during the UPA regime. Wherever Congress is in power, there is exploitation, Kishan Reddy alleged.
