Bahadurpura: Would be debut win for any of 4 key candidates

The constituency, created before the 2009 elections, presently comprises Aliabad, Jahanuma, Doodhbowli, Hashamabad and Falaknuma

Hyderabad: For Bahadurpura, it would be a first-time win for any of the four key candidates pitted for the said assembly seat. One of the big assembly segments of the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, Bahadurpura has 263 polling booths with over three lakh voters.

All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Md Mubeen, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) candidate Mir Inayat Ali Baqri, Congress’ Rajesh Kumar Pulipati and BJP’s nominee Y. Naresh would be contesting against each other for the Bahudupura assembly constituency which has six divisions in this segment. The constituency, which was created before the 2009 elections as per Delimitation Act of 2002, presently comprises Aliabad, Jahanuma, Doodhbowli, Hashamabad and Falaknuma as its neighborhood.

Md Mubeen, a corporator from Shastripuram division and associated with the party for more than two decades would lock horns with Mir Inayat Ali Baqri, working president of National Hawker Federation, Congress’ Rajesh Kumar Pulipati, convener of TPCC election commission co-ordination committee and Y. Naresh from BJP. It would be a first-time win for any of the key candidates because none of them had fought for an MLA seat before.

Md Mubeen, who replaced Moazzam Khan, the sitting MLA from Bahadurpura, is quite confident of winning with a good majority.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mubeen said, “My first priority would be to start the construction work of the hospital in Kamatipura and then focus on the cable bridge near Bahadurpura crossroads besides taking up other developmental works in the constituency.” Mubeen, who got MLA ticket for the first time, exuded confidence of an easy win with a huge majority.

BRS’ Mir Inayat Ali Baqri who lost to Moazzam Khan in 2018, said, “Unemployment is one aspect where authorities and local leaders failed miserably. Thousands of youths are jobless despite having skills. Almost all the local industries and workshops are either lying defunct or closed shutters. Just a handful of small industries comprising less than 5% are surviving. Small scale industries like zari making, papad, aachar, wood carving units have shut shops compelling youth in dire straits. Even for civic issues, corporators are at the mercy of MLAs and MPs to get them resolved.”

Congress’ Rajesh Kumar Pulipati, an advocate hailing from the Padmashali community (BC-B), has been quite active in the constituency going door-to-door campaigning and reaching out to maximum voters explaining the six guarantees targeting youth and women. When Deccan Chronicle asked him about his priorities and preferences, he said, “I feel great to contest for the first time on a MLA ticket. Resolving all civic issues in the segment would be my first priority. If elected, I would see to it that funds be released on time and pending works be completed.”

“Forget about narrow lanes, a few areas do not even have street lights. The main road from Bahadurpura towards the airport is in shabby condition. Arambagh, Doodhbowli, Chandulal Baradari are the worst areas,” the Congress leader said, adding that as there is a wave of the party his chances also go up.
