Rift among RTC unions over strike call-off

The RTC JAC announced that it was ready to end the strike if the government accepted certain conditions.

Hyderabad: A rift between the trade unions of the Road Transport Corporation came to light a day after the TS Road Transport Corporation trade unions’ Joint Action Committee announced it was calling off the strike.

The RTC JAC announced that it was ready to end the strike if the government accepted certain conditions. But, on Thursday, the Telangana Jathiya
Mazdoor Union expressed anger at the JAC’s announcement, and its convener Hanumanth Mudiraj announced that the union has not called off the strike.

He said that it is very unfortunate that the RTC trade unions JAC is calling off the strike after 29 RTC workers died and without any assurance from the state government that it would give financial support to the families of the deceased. Mr Mudiraj said he is worried that several cases have been registered against employees, and that the JAC announced its decision unilaterally.
