Saseendran will be min if cleared, says NCP president TP Peethambran
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NCP state president T.P. Peethambran on Tuesday said that if A.K. Saseendran gets a clean chit from P.S. Antony Commission and is cleared by High Court as well, then he would be eligible to become a minister in the LDF Government.
Speaking to reporters after meeting NCP national president Sharad Pawar in Delhi, the state president said that there was no chance of adverse findings against Saseendran in the Commission report. "He has not done anything wrong. There was a deliberate attempt to trap him. We expect the findings to be favourable to Saseendran," he said.
Mr Peehambaran said Saseendran deserved to be a minister if cleared of all charges. The party leadership including Thomas Chandy had taken a decision earlier that if cleared, Saseendran will be the choice of NCP. "There is no change in that stand. I have apprised the Mr Pawar about the developments leading to the resignation of Thomas Chandy and the issues related to Antony commission report," he said.
Meanwhile, Saseendran said that he was confident of coming clean on the allegations against him. "I have not done anything wrong. So I am hopeful of getting a clean chit ," he said.
When asked whether he would return to LDF ministry, the Alathur MLA said the decision on such matters has to be taken by NCP and LDF leadership. "I am a disciplined soldier of the party. Whatever responsibility the leadership gives me I will gladly accept," he added.
