Don't get restless over report: Kerala CM
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said it was the responsibility of the government to take legal action on Solar Commission report and there was no point in anyone getting restless about it. He was referring to turbulence in the UDF following the submission of Solar Commission report, at the inauguration of Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam leg of jana jagratha yathra here.
The chief minister said that party members of Thiruvanathapruam would recollect how Solar Commission was constituted. “You all remember the historic Secretariat siege, many of you also participated in it. It was after that massive agitation that the then chief minister Oommen Chandy was forced to announce the judicial commission. Subsequently, the commission was constituted. It was formed after taking sufficiently good time, he said.
Pinarayi said the panel examined all issues in detail and submitted a report. “What all actions are to be taken on the basis of the report, whatever it may be, the government will take,” he said.
The chief minister slammed the Narendra Modi Government’s aggressive neo liberal policies which had heaped miseries on the common man. The decision on demonetisation was taken without any planning. The consequences of the decision are being experienced by the people even now.
The chief minister said along with demonetisation the decision on GST came as epidemic. Both decisions had plunged various sectors into major crisis besides adversely affecting the economy.
He said people in different sectors, irrespective of their ideological differences, are uniting to struggle against the ‘anti- people’ policies of the government. The recent agitation of farmers and workers had reflected the deep resentment prevailing in the country.
The chief minister said there has been a surge of Left students’ organisations in university campuses across the country. The BJP government at the Centre instead of implementing policies for the people was keen on polarising people on communal lines.
