16 women in poll ticket race from Congress, BJP in Warangal and Karimnagar districts
WARANGAL/KARIMNAGAR: Of the 25 assembly segments in the erstwhile Warangal (12) and Karimnagar (13) districts, the BRS party has allotted the MLA ticket to only one woman – namely to Bade Naga Jyothi for the Mulugu assembly segment.
Many women leaders including tribal welfare minister Satyavathi Rathode, Mahabubabad (Dornakal) MP Maloth Kavitha (Mahabubabad), Warangal zilla parishad chairperson Gandra Jyothi (Bhupalpally) and Jagtial zilla parishad chairperson Dava Vasantha (Jagtial) and Palakurthy ZPTC Kandula Sandhya Rani (Ramagundam) aspired for BRS party tickets from their constituencies in the two districts.
Five women from the Congress party are in the ticket race to contest in assembly elections in Warangal region. From the Mulugu segment, sitting MLA Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), former minister Konda Surekha, and Warangal DCC president Errabelli Swarna want to contest from the Warangal East segment.
TPCC member Hanumandla Jhansi Reddy wants to enter the fray from Palakurthy and Singarapu Indira from the Station Ghanpur constituencies.
In BJP, two women are in the ticket race in the erstwhile Warangal district. BJP district president Rao Padma aims to contest from Warangal West (Hanamkonda) and Chandupatla Keerthireddy from the Bhupalpally assembly segment.
In the erstwhile Karimnagar district, two women, Karra Satya Prasanna, and Kalvakuntla Ramya Rao, are vying for the Congress party ticket for the Karimnagar assembly segment.
Five BJP women are in the ticket race in Karimnagar region. They are Bodiga Shoba from Choppadandi, Boga Shravani from Jagtial, Tula Uma from Vemulawada, Etala Jamuna from Huzurabad, and Karnakanti Manjula Reddy from Husnabad assembly segments.
BSP leader Dasari Usha was leaving no stone unturned to contest the Peddapalli assembly segment. By taking up the Mana ooru-Mana Usha programme for the past 42 days, she was reaching out to every section of the society in the constituency.
The Palakurthy ZPTC, Kandula Sandhya Rani, who was disappointed with the allotment of party ticket to sitting MLA Chander Patel decided to contest as an independent from Ramagundam assembly segment.
