VIJAYAWADA: Minister for civil supplies Venkateswara Rao alias Nani said on Tuesday that Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu kept his party away from the Parishad elections battlefield and the polls were set to reflect the people’s trust in the YSRC government.
He predicted that the TD would face a similar response in Telangana State also and the party is on the verge of demise.
Rao said the YSRC swept the ZPTC and MPTC elections in spite of the conspiracies hatched by opposition leader Naidu and former SEC N. Ramesh. “A former SEC had unilaterally postponed the polls just three days before the election date, citing Covid19. Although the new SEC conducted the polls in March this year, the opposition knocked on the doors of the high court and stopped the counting, fearing a defeat for them.”
The minister said Naidu does not have the guts to challenge the chief minister. He dared Naidu to resign in Kuppam and seek fresh election there to ascertain his popularity. “Naidu could not relish seeing the people blessing chief minister Jagan and hence the TD put on a drama of boycotting the polls. “In the recent elections, almost 800 TD candidates have won. Can this be termed a boycott or, worse, did they all defy Chandrababu, he asked.
The minister said the YSRC has won in Naidu’s own village Naravaripalle in Kuppam constituency and said this was fresh proof the TD cannot come to power in the near future.
