HKP: probe tapping of journo phones too

The alleged tapping of telephones of journalists and common citizens should also be probed.

Former minister and COngress MLA H.K. patil has urged Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to extend the probe into the phone tapping scandal to journalists and common people too as it amounts to breach of privacy. the state government has handed over the rpobe to the CBI

In a letter to the CM a copy of which was released to the media, he said the probe would expose all illegal deals, corruption and anti-national activities. Based on the outcome of the probe, criminal cases should be filed against the guilty.

"I am not interested to know if phone tapping has happened or not but it should not become vindictive. The alleged tapping of telephones of journalists and common citizens should also be probed. No one has the liberty to breach the privacy of any individual. Since there are reports about tapping of phones of individuals, it should be dealt with seriously. Otherwise it will create an impression that such probes are meant to targeting only politicians.” he added.
