Vijayawada: Nandyal bypoll fever has gripped the state with heavy betting on both sides of the TD and YSRC.
Confirming this, a senior IPS officer said there is an anticipation of Rs 100 crores being at stake across the state.
Apart from the Rayalaseema, betting is happening on large scale in the districts of Nellore, Guntur and Krishna. If the TD wins, it is Rs 500 for Rs 100. If the YSRC wins, it is Rs 100 for Rs 100. The bettings are mostly focused on the YSRC’s victory.
Along with betting on the YSRC’s victory, there is also another version of betting on majority of votes.
If the YSRC gains 100 to 1,000 votes, it is Rs 100 on Rs 100, if the votes are 1,000 to 2,000, it is Rs 200 on Rs 100, and if the votes are 2,000 to 3,000, it is Rs 300 on Rs 100 and likewise.
A betting agent said Nandyal bypolls have created a huge hype in the state and as tough fight exists between the ruling TD and opposition, many are betting on the YSRC winning the by-polls.
He said the betting is always like this in nature and are quite challenging. He also mentioned about receiving calls from Karnataka and Telangana states on betting.
Additional DG (law and order) said as per the Election Commission’s code of conduct, there should not be any betting on elections and they would continue enforcement on it.
