Kochi: Kerala congress (Jacob) office bearers' meet lashed out at the LDF government's decision to give cabinet rank to veteran CPM leader V.S. Achuthanandan, saying that the decision reflects the spendthrift attitude of the government. The meet has also demanded that the government should immediately withdraw its decision to increase document fees and tax which are applicable during the division of family property.
The leaders demanded that the document price and fees of transactions worth Rs 1 crore should be reinstated to Rs 25,000 and Rs 1000 respectively, rolling back the present Rs 3 lakh and Rs 1 lakh. KC(J) plans widespread agitations against this alarming hike and on July 22, the party would organize a blockade in front of the district registrar office at Ernakulam, the meet said. KC(J) chairman Johny Nellore presided over the meeting. Party leader and former minister Anoop Jacob and Daisy Jacob were present.
