Will continue to pursue alternative politics: Thol Thirumavalavan
Chennai: Ending speculation of breaking away of People’s Welfare Front following debacle in the recent state Assembly election, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan on Tuesday said that his party would continue to pursue alternative politics despite electoral reverses.
“We are not going to retreat on the decision of achieving alternate politics just because of the election defeat,” Mr Thirumavalavan said after conferring awards to activist from various fields here. Taking strong exception to media speculation of breaking away of PWF, he said it was a deliberate attempt to misled he people by the media.
“Don't they know PWF comprises VCK, MDMK, CPI (M) and CPI alone? DMDK and TMC had only electoral understanding with us and they did not join our front,” he noted. He reiterated that PWF would continue to work together and contest elections jointly. He said that though the alliance has failed to win any seats, it succeeded in isloating castiest PMK and communal BJP in the state.
Writer Gnani who was conferred with Ayothidasar Aadhavan said like 2020 goal set by late President APJ Abdul Kalam for India becoming a super power, VCK along with other constituents of People's Welfare Front should target 2021 for taking forward alternative politics in the state.
“Thirumavalavan has huge responsibility of taking forward alternative politics in the state along with Left parties. You should not join AIADMK, DMK and BJP alliance,” he said, expressing hope that there would be day when Tamil Nadu gets a dalit chief minister and country gets dalit Prime Minister garnering votes of all section of the people. He dontaned the cash award of Rs 50,000 conferred to Besant Nagar Olcott school for education for dalit children.
