AP forms three new corporations -- for Kamma, Kshatriya, Reddy communities

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders for formation of welfare and development corporations for the Reddy, Kshatriya and Kamma castes.

The YSRC had promised to form corporations for the development of forward communities. It fulfilled the promise via three GOs on Friday.

Earlier, the department of backward classes meant for 139 BC castes had formed 56 BC corporations. Corporations with a population of over ten lakhs are classified under ‘A’ category, those with a population of one lakh to ten lakhs are classified under ‘B’ category and corporations with a population of less than one lakh are classified under ‘C’ category.

The government formed three new corporations to serve the poor among the Kshatriya, Kamma and Reddy communities.

The government order stated that the economic disparity among these communities was resulting in economic unrest. To neutralize the same, institutional finance is required. Hence the Andhra Pradesh Reddy welfare and development corporation, the Andhra Pradesh Kamma welfare and development corporation and the Andhra Pradesh Kshatriya welfare and development corporation under the AP Societies Registration Act, 2001.

The orders on the structure of the executive committees (governing bodies) for the three corporations and their staffing pattern will be issued separately.

Special chief secretary to backward classes welfare department G Anantha Ramu issued GO-MS4 for formation of Kshatriya Corporation, GO-MS5 for Kamma Corporation and GO-MS6 for the Reddy Corporation.
