Bengaluru: Intensifying his attack on Congress party leaders, defiant former minister R. Roshan Baig took to twitter on Tuesday declaring that he would not even read the party’s show-cause notice issued to him.
He charged in his tweets that he was speaking against the incumbent leadership who are ‘degenerating’ the party by treating leaders like ‘personal ATMs,’ while heaping praise on senior leaders like Ramalinga Reddy, K.J. George, D.K. Shivakumar and M.B. Patil.
Mr Baig was served show-cause notice by the party within hours of him calling All India Congress Committee general Secretary K.C. Venugopal a “buffoon”, Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah “arrogant” and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dinesh Gundurao a “Flop-show president”.
In his series of hard-hitting tweets, Mr Baig said, “Yes, I have received the (show cause) notice sent to me by the KPCC. But I am not even going to bother to read it because it’s clearly sent on the orders of the same people whose incompetence was highlighted by me.”
In his successive tweet, he added that the arrogance of the state leaders is immeasurable. “These people accuse the opposition of horse-trading without mentioning how they sold ministerial portfolios at exorbitant prices. The incumbent government is being man-handled by the state Congress leaders as well,” he tweeted.
He added, “I drew the attention of the Congress high command to several murky happenings but these leaders turned a blind eye. Be assured, several grievances were raised by me internally before going public.”
Baig charged that all the leaders he spoke against, are conveniently using the party machinery to make it look like he spoke against the Congress. "What they don't want to admit is that I spoke against their shortcomings, " he said.
In another tweet, the former minister pointed out, "the leadership defines a party and I've hit out at the leaders, unfortunately, attacks on the leadership turns into an attack at the party. There are several senior leaders who were capable of running the party but were sidelined.”
