Stones hurled at Naidu's convoy in Markapuram

TIRUPATI: Stones were hurled at TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s convoy as his roadshow traversed through the Markapuram-Yerragondapalem road leading to the town.

Tension prevailed as members of Dalit organisations, mostly supporters of municipal administration minister A. Suresh and YSRC activists, demonstrated along the route the TD leader took on Friday.

They held black flags, released black balloons and shouted "Dalita Drohi Chandrababu." They were objecting to what they called offensive statements made against Dalits by Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh.

Minister Suresh himself took off his shirt and fiercely tried to obstruct Naidu’s convoy, saying the former CM did little for the district. Police intervened and relocated the minister to his camp office.

National Security Guards (NSG) cordoned off access to the TD president. Undeterred, Naidu continued with his roadshow and addressed a public gathering.
