Hyderabad turning safe haven for terror: G Kishan Reddy

Kishan said several terrorist attacks had links with the city in the past decade.

Hyderabad: The picking up of three youngsters in Hyderabad by the National Intelligence Agency shows that Hyderabad has become a safe haven for those who want to carry out extremist operations, BJP former MLA G. Kishan Reddy alleged on Sunday. He said several terrorist attacks had links with the city in the past decade.

Mr Kishan Reddy said that despite the Central intelligence agencies warning about the terror threat, the state government had failed to identify the pattern of the terrorist organisations and had not taken preventive measures.

“Though there have been inputs that the Islamic State terrorist organisation is targetting the innocent youths of Telangana, the state government has failed in taking preventive measures. The incident of the National Investigation Agency picking up three persons for questioning should become a wake-up call to take necessary measures,” Mr Kishan Reddy said.

“The areas where Rohingyas have been living are becoming prime locations for such incidents. Such illegal migrants in the country should be immediately identified and sent back,” he demanded.

Mr Kishan Reddy alleged that the TRS government was coming under pressure from the MIM and stepping back from taking taking action against terror outfits.

Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya alleged the NIA searches showed there was a “rise in terror activities' and demanded that the TRS government form a special cell to probe them. He said the NIA probe revealed that Hyderabad was a safe haven for Islamic terrorist activities.

He demanded that the special cell under the supervision of a Director General or Inspector General-level rank officer take up probe into such activities.

Mr Dattatraya demanded that the government keep a watch in Hyderabad and Nalgonda, Adilabad, Nizama-bad and Karimnagar districts. He slammed MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for remaining silent on the matter.
