Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan promises to take oath as Andhra Pradesh CM

Actor turns nomination rally into film set, cops called to control fans gone beserk with joy.

Visakhapatnam: It was more than a festival for the fans of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan when he visited Gajuwaka to file his nomination from the Assembly segment, in Visakhapatnam district.

His arrival at the municipal office in the town at the head of a road show was straight out of a movie scene.

Throughout the six-km road show, Mr Kalyan stood on the top of his vehicle.

The fans who reached Gajuwaka from the surrounding districts in the morning waited for their hero and gave him a grand reception on the route from the Visakhapatnam airport to the municipal office.

The police faced a lot of trouble in keeping the visibly excited fans under control.

At one point, the police had to resort to a lathicharge to keep them in line.

Telugu Desam candidate Palla Srinivas reached the office to file his nomination before Mr Kalyan. With supporters of both parties in proximity to each other, the police was on its toes.

After filing his nomination papers, Mr Kalyan held another road show on his way to the public meeting venue.

Addressing the meeting, the Jana Sena chief thanked his fans for the tumultuous welcome. “We are going to form government and your favourite Pawan Kalyan will take oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh,” Mr Kalyan said.

“We have fielded winning horses in the election race. By fielding former CBI joint director V.V. Lakshminarayana, YSRC leaders will not come for campaigning as they will shiver while facing him. In some places, we have fielded mass leaders. Our candidates are fielded based on who the opponents fielded. If they field an intellectual, we are doing the same,” he said.

“We supported the Telugu Desam and the BJP in the last elections. Telugu Desam leaders started illegal land grabbing and the BJP betrayed us regarding special category status,” he said.

“Now YSRC is asking for votes and they are more dangerous than the TD. If the people vote YSRC, undoubtedly they will loot our houses too. They will not leave a piece of land or a single tree. With so many cases being filed on them, I’m surprised how they are still campaigning. Jagan Mohan Reddy very afraid of Prime Minister Narendra Modi because of the cases,” Mr Kalyan said.

Later Mr Kalyan addressed a public meeting in Bheemili constituency and alleged that minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao had used his office to indulge in corruption on many levels.
