Expelled MP seeks SCS for Bihar

YSR Congress MP Y V Subbareddy said that the NDA government and Lok Sabha Speaker were trying to silence the voice of the people of AP.

Hyderabad: The Lok Sabha was deadlocked yet again on Wednesday, with neither any other business taking place nor the no-trust motion of the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress being debated.

Expelled Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Rajesh Ranjan (Pappu Yadav) gave an adjournment motion on special status to Bihar and joined the protesting TRS and AIDMK MPs in the well of the House.

As the TRS and AIADMK members continued their noisy protests in the well of the House, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House till 12 noon, but when the same disruptions continued after the House reassembled, she mentioned the notices given by the TD and YSRC regarding the no-confidence motion against the council of ministers, and adjourned the House for the day.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari added a new twist to the tale when he wrote to Speaker Mahajan requesting that the salaries of MPs be deducted for their failure to do any work.

The letter said that as a member of the Lok Sabha he was ‘pained to see the unprecedented chaos in the house resulting in loss of valuable time of the Parliament.’ He said it was disturbing to see public representatives, who are primarily responsible for law-making, ‘running away’ from their responsibilities. “I therefore propose deducting the salary of MPs for their failure to engage in any constructive work. Let’s follow the fair practice of no work, no pay.”

This brought forth a strong reply from TRS MP K. Kavitha who tweeted: “Wow, this is like ulta chor kotwal ko daantein. No party or MP will want to protest on the floor of the House if the government of the day timely addresses their issues.”

The protesting TRS MPs made it clear in a meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan that they will continue their protests until they get the assurance they want from the central government regarding reservations.

After the House was adjourned, the TD and YSRC parties accused the central government of running away from the debate on a no-confidence motion.

"The government is running away from the debate and the Speaker is supporting them. This is like match-fixing. The AIDMK is playing to the tunes of BJP. We will keep trying every day. This shows people how speaker and government is playing with democracy," said Telugu Desam MP Galla Jayadev.

YSR Congress MP Y V Subbareddy said that the NDA government and Lok Sabha Speaker were trying to silence the voice of the people of AP. "The no-confidence motion has the support of 100 MPs, but the Speaker is avoiding the motion since the past four days. We cannot blame the TRS and AIDMK MPs for their protests. The government passed the finance bill despite the House not being in order, and now it is not placing the no-confidence motion citing disorder in the House. We will continue to give notices to the Speaker until the issue is debated."
