Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee to discuss protest against government
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KPCC executive meeting to be held at Indira Bhavan on Wednesday will discuss the organisational matters and the agitations to be held against the government in view of the Assembly session starting on Thursday. During the last KPCC executive meeting on January 28, PCC president V. M. Sudheeran had disallowed talks on the organisational elections and promised to discuss them later. Out of 546 members, only 200 Congress leaders had turned up for the meeting which was attended by senior leader A. K. Antony.
KPCC general secretary in charge of organisational affairs Thampanoor Ravi told DC, “organisational affairs and agitations against the government will be discussed in detail.” Former chief minister Oommen Chandy, who has been demanding organisational elections, was assured by the AICC leadership last month that after the state Assembly elections are over, his grievance will be redressed. Mr Antony had come down heavily at Mr Chandy for keeping off party meetings.
“Vatakara MP Mullapally Ramachandran, who is also the chairman of the election authority for the national organisational elections, will have to start the preparations for the party polls. But he had objected to holding elections in Kerala alone,” said a Congress leader. The UDF coordination committee will meet on Thursday to take stock of the four regional UDF marches taken out recently against the policies of the LDF government.
