V Hanumantha Rao tells TD, join Congress'
He said there was no use of the Opposition votes getting split in every election which would only help the TRS.

Hyderabad: Senior Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao said on Sunday that only two major parties — the TRS and the Congress — would be left for the 2019 elections, and asked the TD leaders and workers to join the Congress to put up a strong fight against the ruling party.
The three-time Rajya Sabha member told the media at the CLP office that it was a “historic necessity” for like-minded Opposition parties to come on one platform and fight the “anti-people policies” of the TRS.
He said looking after party and government affairs was confining TD national president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to AP. Telangana State TD leaders should therefore join the Congress.
He said there was no use of the Opposition votes getting split in every election which would only help the TRS.
On other issues, Mr Rao blamed the BJP Central leadership, Prime Minister Naren-dra Modi and Haryana’s BJP Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for mishandling the Jat reservations stir.
The MP, who belongs to the Backward Classes, said the Supreme Court had struck down reservations for Jats and it was not proper to rake up the issue to divert public attention just before the Parliament Budget Session.
“The last time the BJP encouraged the Patel stir in Gujarat was to divert attention and now it is the Jat reservations,” he said.
He said the 25-year-old OBC reservations in the Central sector was still not being implemented in its entirety, and it was not proper for Jats to claim OBC reservations. “It is only to weaken the 27 per cent reservations for OBCs,” he added.
