BC associations hold stir, set deadline for TRS govt

Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao has demanded the TRS MLAs from BC communities to respond on the Ordinance issued by the state government.

Hyderabad: Several Backward Classes (BC) welfare associations staged a protest at Dharna Chowk demanding 34 per cent reservation in the panchayat elections. Joining the protest against the government reducing the BC reservation to 23 per cent from 34 per cent were Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao, BJP state president K. Laxman and Telugu Desam state president L. Ramana.

Telangana BC Welfare Association president J. Srinivas Goud alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has started targeting BCs who brought him back to power.

“A permanent solution must be provided to the issue within 24 hours. We will intensify the protest if the government refuses to listen. We will continue with protests at collectorates, road blocks and state bandhs,” Mr Goud said.

Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao has demanded the TRS MLAs from BC communities to respond on the Ordinance issued by the state government. “We are giving December 25 deadline for the government to respondr. If the TRS leaders don't come out, we will protest in front of their houses,” he said.
