Congress to take streets on farmer\'s issues

Hyderabad: TPCC president and MP A. Revanth Reddy and other TPCC leaders will meet Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Monday to seek government intervention to resolve farmer issues in Telangana, calling on Congress party leaders and cadre to take to the streets on ‘podu’ lands and paddy procurement issues.

The TPCC also served notices on senior leaders, demanding an explanation for their failure to attend the Zoom meeting. Revanth Reddy stated that thousands of farmers are experiencing difficulties with paddy procurement, the Dharni portal, and podu land issues. He stated that crops have been damaged on 15 lakh acres in Telangana due to natural catastrophes this year, and the state government should consider providing financial assistance. To discuss these issues, a delegation led by the TPCC chief would meet with the Chief Secretary.

The Congress party leaders would protest against state government policies at Dharna Chowk, and the party planned to stage protests on farmer issues in a phased manner, he said. Further, the party leaders would meet the Governor and submit a representation on farmer's issues.
