BJP MLA in Karnataka claims assault by villagers

BENGALURU: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA M.P. Kumaraswamy, who represents the Mudigere Assembly seat in Chikkamagaluru, claimed that he was assaulted by a mob at Hullemane of Mudgiere when he went to console the bereaved family members of Satish Gowda on Sunday.

Shobha (45), the wife of Satish Gowda, was trampled to death by a tusker which had strayed to the backyard of Satish Gowda's house on Sunday morning. But the video clipping, which went viral on Monday, showed that the MLA shirt was intact and policemen were seen providing security to him.

The villagers were angry that the MLA nurtured the elephant.

Though the MLA came on record with a torn shirt to highlight an attack on him from the angry mob, the video clippings point out that the MLA was escorted to safety by police men when he was stormed by the angry villagers.

But the BJP MLA criticized the policemen for doing nothing to ensure his safety. The MLA claimed that he was misguided by the policemen.

BJP MLA Kumaraswamy claims an attack on him by villagers of his constituency in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru on Sunday.
