O Panneerselvam attends mass wedding of 61 diff-abled couples

While blessing the newly married couples, O. Panneerselvam emphasised the importance of understanding and compromise between couples.

Chennai: Sixty one differently-abled poor couples got married at a mass wedding ceremony organised in Chennai on Monday.

Tamil Nadu deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Social welfare minister V. Saroja and Tamil official language minister K. Pandiarajan attended and blessed the couples at the ceremony organised by Shree Geeta Bhavan Trust and Tamil Nadu differently-abled federation.

“‘Swayamvaram’ was conducted before the mass wedding ceremony,” said Ashok Kumar Goel, Managing trustee, Shree Geeta Bhavam Trust.

While blessing the newly married couples, O. Panneerselvam emphasised the importance of understanding and compromise between couples. “Differently-abled should obliterate inferior complex to achieve big in life,” he said.

It is to be noted that popular communist veteran Jeeva’s grandson also got married at the mass wedding. M. Jeevanand, a teacher by profession married R. Meenakshi. “We are happy to get married. I participated in last year ‘swayamvaram’ but did not get suitable alliance. Now it got Meenakshi. We thank our association and Shree geeta bavan trust,” M. Jeevanand said. The trust has also distributed gifts worth Rs 1.50 lakh to the each one of the newly married couple.
