Government did not procure eggs on time: MK Stalin
Chennai: DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Monday accused the Tamil Nadu government of “being callous” in not procuring eggs on time for distribution among school children under the noon meal scheme citing rise in their prices.
Since the price of eggs have gone up to Rs 7 in some places in Tamil Nadu, reports have come from across the state that distribution of eggs have been stopped in several schools since stock have not arrived.
“The present AIADMK government has failed to purchase eggs under the noon-meal scheme for children. It has showed its callous attitude in procuring eggs and it seems the government is planning to stop providing eggs to children by citing rise in prices,” Stalin said in a statement. He said nearly 69 lakh children from the age of two years are benefited by the noon meal scheme in Tamil Nadu.
