IPS officials reshuffle soon in AP
Vijayawada: According to the reports, Telugu Desam government is preparing for the transfers of higher police officials. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted a meeting with AP DGP R.P. Thakur and intelligence additional DG A.B. Venkateswara Rao on Friday and discussed about the IPS transfers. The party leaders sought Mr Naidu to appoint police officials who have soft corners towards TD which is useful in the coming elections.
TD senior leaders on the condition of anonymity said that TD image damaged due to illegal mining in Palnadu, illegal digging of sand from Krishna river, the involvement of TD legislators and leaders in call money and sex rackets and further in the land grabbing damaging party image among the masses. They stated that the people are thinking the illegalities by the TD leaders were done with the cooperation of police officials hence shifting of the police officials would help TD to get a clean image. They stated that direct IPS officials will not help party leaders hence TD leaders seeking appointment of conferred IPS officials during transfers.
The TD government transferred 24 IPS officials in July 2014, six SPs were transferred in March 2017 and 18 IPS officials were shifted in July 2017.
According to sources police officials of two districts of the capital and adjacent districts would be transferred. Earlier Mr Naidu planned to transfer IPS officials after the completion of recent Assembly sessions but the same was postponed. Now as Mr Naidu conducted meeting with DGP and intelligence ADG, the TD leaders are expecting reshuffle of IPS officials. Further some TD leader in the key party posts are assuring some police officials about proving focal posts in the reshuffle process.
