Furnished bus! HD Kumaraswamy gets ambitious about poll plans
Bengaluru: Six months before the state Assembly elections, the opposition JD(S) has prepared a custom-made bus for its party state unit president H.D. Kumaraswamy.
The Ashok Leyland bus whose body was manufactured at Karur and interiors at Salem in Tamil Nadu, will reach the city on Sunday and will most probably be officially unveiled on Monday.
"When we announced this on social media, we got 870 suggestions about the name of the bus which will carry Kumaraswamy during his poll campaigns. At the time of the bus launch, the name will be announced," Sayed Altaf, the state JD (S) Minority wing chief told Deccan Chronicle.
Mr Altaf is personally overseeing the body work of the bus and the furnishing of the interiors.
The 30-ft long bus has a driver’s cabin which can accommodate five people besides a bedroom, cafetaria including a fridge and microwave oven, toilet, bathroom and sitting room. It has a Hydraulic stage and a public address system to enable the leader address crowds wherever he travels.
The bus also has an AC facility besides safety features and a 400-litre water tank too. It has been painted in green-the colour of the party flag Mr Altaf said.
Along with the bus, three Toyota Innova cars and a Mahindra Scorpio are being prepared. "These vehicles will accompany Mr Kumaraswamy, besides the security escort vehicles, wherever he moves," Mr Altaf added.
The former chief minister had recently undergone heart valve replacement surgery at a prominent hospital in Bengaluru and is recovering.
