TD MLAs suspended again on fourth day of Andhra Pradesh assembly

TD MLAs climbed the speaker\'s podium and displayed placards saying \"Sankshobam lo Sankshemam\" and shouted slogans against Jagan\'s govt.

VIJAYAWADA: The ruckus by Telugu Desam MLAs in the AP Assembly continued on the fourth day of the present session on Tuesday. Assembly speaker Thammineni Sitaram suspended all the TD legislators for one day, just as he did so in the previous three days.

The TD MLAs climbed the speaker's podium and displayed placards saying "Sankshobam lo Sankshemam" (welfare in crisis) and shouted slogans against the Jagan-led state government. This disturbed the question hour.

The Opposition demanded that a discussion be allowed on the “welfare in crisis” charge. They accused the government of trying to skirt important issues and questions. They also sought a discussion of Lepakshi lands and on liquor-related issues. The TD members raised slogans “Shame, Shame”, which invited objections from the treasury benches.

YSRC MLA Kurasala Kannababu alleged that Chandrababu cheated the public by not fulfilling the loan waiver assurance and added that the TD has no right to criticise chief minister Jagan Reddy as he has “fulfilled 98 per cent” of his poll promises.

Minister for medical and health Vidadala Rajani refuted allegations about a governmental negligence to control of viral fevers. She recalled that the TD government wasted money in the name of Domala Pai Danda Yatra (invasion on mosquitoes) but the Jagan government spent money on revamping government hospitals and providing best services. Heated arguments followed between YSRC and TD legislators which disrupted the assembly proceedings repeatedly on Tuesday.

Speaker Sitaram tried unsuccessfully to send back the TD MLAs from the well and podium to their seats and then the YSRC proposed suspension of all TD legislators. Speaker effected a one-day suspension. He called marshals as TD MLAs refused to leave the assembly. As had happened a day ago, the marshals forcefully sent out the legislators and restored the normal proceedings in the house.
