KCR meets TRS leaders on Munugode strategy
HYDERABAD: TRS supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday held a meeting with Nalgonda TRS leaders at Pragathi Bhavan and discussed party's strategy for upcoming Munugode Assembly bypoll.
Official sources said energy minister G. Jagadish Reddy, who is also incharge minister for Nalgonda district, Munugode former MLA Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy and other senior leaders were present in the meeting.
Contrary to speculation, the Chief Minister did not announce TRS candidate, preferring to wait for a few more days. As of now, only the Congress has declared Palvai Sravanthi as the party’s candidate. The BJP is yet to declare Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy as the party candidate but he has been campaigning for the last one month.
Although the TRS has not yet announced its candidate, Prabhakar Reddy, a former Munugode MLA who won in 2014 but lost in 2018, is actively campaigning alongside minister Jagadish Reddy, sending the message to voters that his nomination is merely a formality. The BC community leaders in the district such as former Bhongir Lok Sabha member Bura Narsaiah Goud and former MLC Karne Prabhakar are in the race for ticket.
With the Congress and BJP fielding Reddy community candidates, it remains to be seen whether the Chief Minister opts for a candidate from the same community or prefers someone from the BC community. Party sources say that odds were in favour of Prabhakar Reddy as he enjoyed the support of Jagadish Reddy.
