Telangana to release 93 cr fish seed, 25 cr prawn seed this year: Talasani
Karimnagar: Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Monday said the state government would release around 93 crore fish seed and 25 crore prawn seed into water bodies across the state this year, investing Rs 115 crore.
He was speaking at a function after releasing 25 lakh fish seed and 2.5 lakh prawn seed in the Annapurna reservoir in Ananthagiri of Ellanthakunta mandal here on Monday. He was accompanied by Manakondur MLA Rasamayee Balakishan and additional collector Satya Prasad. He also distributed two mobile fish outlet vehicles worth Rs 20 lakh to beneficiaries.
Minister Srinivas Yadav said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had brightened the lives of the fishermen community by distributing fish seed. The government has distributed around 25 lakh of fish seed and 25 lakh prawn seed in the district till date, he informed.
People of the fishermen community must coordinate with the officials of the district fisheries department and must celebrate the releasing of fish seed into the water bodies like a festival, he appealed.
The officials are releasing quality fish seed into the water bodies and taking videos of the exercise. With the increase of fish wealth, the fishermen community can develop economically and the general health of the population can improve by consuming fish.
The minister said that the government is committed to the development of the Pochamma and Muthyalamma temples and has donated Rs 5 lakh.
