Hold RMC elections, Gorantla throws challenge at YSRC

The MLA said the TD had boycotted the ZPTC and MPTC elections as the YSRC leaders resorted to foul play and threatened the voters

KAKINADA: Telugu Desam leader Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary, the Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA, has thrown a challenge at Chief Minister Jagan, daring him to hold elections for Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation immediately, saying that this would prove the respective strengths of the TD and the YSRC.

The Telugu Desam will be the winner when the polls are held, he claimed at a media meet here on Monday.

The MLA said the TD had boycotted the ZPTC and MPTC elections as the YSRC leaders resorted to foul play and threatened the voters that the welfare schemes would be stopped if they did not vote for the YSRC.

“The TD would hold agitations and the failures of YSRC would be highlighted before the people. The police system has been misused by adviser Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. He is controlling the police force and the woman home minister does not exercise her authority,” he said.

He said YSRC leaders Y.V. Subba Reddy, Byreddy Siddardha Reddy and others take out huge processions and disturb the traffic, but the government finds fault with Telugu Desam only, in situations like “when we seek permission to go and meet officials and submit representations on farmers’ problems.”

Chowdary said the TD and the people were not expecting good governance from Jagan as he has a fighting style. “The construction sector is totally ruined and contractors are not coming forward to do any work. The Amma Vodi scheme is not being implemented properly as the scheme is not made applicable to mothers having two children. The Education Abroad scheme remains suspended and this would be a big loss to the students.”

The MLA said Jagan Mohan Reddy who did not trace out the murderer of his paternal uncle can’t protect the interests of the people.

Chowdary took a look at the beautification works under way at Devichowk at Rajamahendravaram and said the ruling party leaders are wasting Rs 5 crore of funds on this. TD leaders Marni Vasudev, Prasad, Srinu and others were present.
