YSRC refutes Naidu’s charges, says CM committed to BC welfare
VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLA Kolusu Parthasarathi refuted allegations of former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president Chandrababu Naidu over the neglect of BCs in the YSRCP government and claimed that the YSRCP dedicatedly was working for the uplift of BCs by treating them as Backbone Classes. He stated that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy gave top priority to BCs in the government, legislature, party and nominated posts.
Speaking to the media at YSRCP central office here on Friday, Parthasarathi flayed Naidu for claiming that the state government had cancelled and deprived BCs of huge benefits under 36 government programmes. He challenged TDP BC leaders to list out those 36 government programmes. He said Naidu had misled people with false propaganda on allocation of funds to BCs during the previous government and added that the state government had been benefitting BC, SC, ST and Minorities through direct benefit transfer (DBT) and non-DBT schemes without any corruption.
Parthasarathi slammed Chandrababu Naidu for shedding crocodile’s tears on BC, SC, ST and Minorities after abandoning them while he was in power. He said Naidu had cheated weaker sections and they were not ready to believe him and added that Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the welfare calendar detailing the implementation schedules of the schemes.
The MLA reminded that the state government had disbursed nearly Rs 50,000 crore to BCs through DBT under various welfare schemes in the last 26 months and added that the amount went up to another Rs 19,000 crore including non-DBT schemes. He said the state government had disbursed Rs 1.04 lakh crore through DBT under various welfare schemes in the last two years of which more than Rs 17,000 crore was given to Dalits and added that the funds went up to Rs 24,000 crore including non-DBT schemes like Arogyasri, Jagananna Thodu and distribution of house sites.
Parthasarathi said while Naidu had neglected BCs completely, it was the Chief Minister who set up 56 BC corporations for the development of every BC community. He said 50 percent reservation was provided to women and weaker sections in nominated posts.
