Disqualified MLAs to meet Amit Shah soon

The disqualified legislators have challenged then Speaker Ramesh Kumar\'s decision to disqualify them, in the top court.

Bengaluru: The disqualified MLAs who met here on Tuesday decided to go to New Delhi and meet BJP national president Amit Shah to discuss their future course of action.

Those who were present at disqualified Gokak MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi's residence included Dr K. Sudhakar, Munirathna, Shivaram Hebbar, M.T.B. Nagaraj and Bhairati Basavaraj. After the meeting, Dr Sudhakar told reporters that the meeting was a routine one and should not be linked to the dissatisfaction among BJP MLAs who could not make it to the cabinet. The rebels reportedly discussed their prospects of making it to the cabinet at a time when the BJP is facing serious dissent after cabinet formation. A former MLA wondered if they would ever get a chance to join the cabinet.

"The SC was supposed to take up the (disqualification) case on Tuesday. However, since the CJI was busy with the Ayodhya case, our case did not come up for hearing," Dr Sudhakar said. The disqualified legislators have challenged then Speaker Ramesh Kumar's decision to disqualify them, in the top court.
